A very special thanks to the Law of Attraction, the Law of Deliberate Intent, and the Law of Allowing:
Attached to an African Sumac Tree, this tree house is, by a long shot, the coolest thing I have ever created from trees. It is the first one I’ve ever made and it was manifested out of the infinite love I have for my daughter.
It is very much “a box” as that is what came to me at the time. The next one I want to incorporate curves and maybe even a circular or elliptically shaped construction. Or maybe even a flat circle with a dome over it
I have never constructed a building before other than tiny shed from home depot when I was a teenager. However I have built a lot of “live edge” furniture.
It is composed %95 of recycled materials and took about 4 months to construct to its main-ness. We have been continually adding things to it since it was completed at the end of June 2016.
Free Materials: ALL of the wood except the roofing 2 x 4′s because i wanted them very straight and new. insulation, windows, window framing wood, siding wood (old fences from around the neighborhood people were replacing), the giant playground slide (was removed from a playground because of a problem with one of the sections in it, i just deleted that section.), all the decking wood and frame rails and the benches are from trees i fell myself for people that needed trees removed, Trampoline frame, solar panel supports, dry wall, interior flooring and base boards, sink and counter (an old bowl with a used drain installed into a hole i drilled – and a piece of wood coated with poly), shelving, snack cabinet (cut the back half off of a larger free cabinet), 30 Watt solar panel, PVC pipe, mesh screen and chicken wire (in top windows).
Purchased Materials: $400 of screws, bolts, hinges and door handle, nails, glue, spray foam, caulking, ABS pipe, $120 harbor freight 3 panel solar kit (w/ %25 off coupon), NAXA tv/dvd combo, solar rope lights $20 (they line the roof line can only see at night), LG AirConditioner ( special ~ $120), Corrugated roofing material($100), Roof 2 x 4′s, copper fittings sink.
The first beam was attached to the tree and a 4×4 on March 1st, 2016.
Would anyone like to see a video on the construction process??
Let me know in the comments and I just might put one together…
