SUNCROX SOLAR’S SOCIAL INITIATIVE: Solar energy rural empowerment in Myanmar.

Multiple installations were completed with focus on public facilities in rural area. Among selected sites are train station, rural hospital and community center. Most of the places are not connected to grid or having very unreliable electricity supply. Previously, they were using generator that is very costly in term of fuel and maintenance or most of them use candle or kerosene light . We used flexible thin film solar panel that was very useful in logistics and installation.

Secondly, we installed a solar energy system for a rural hospital in Bago region in Myanmar. The hospital has no access to grid and using unreliable yet expensive generator for its operation. The delivery room, operation theater, and mini refrigerator are powered by our solar energy system as part of our social initiative in South East Asian countries. Our biggest challenge during that time is financial constraint. There were so much we want to do but we can only utilize limited margin from our commercial project. The hospital has around 5 permanent staffs with frequent visiting doctors and served nearby villages with more than 1000 occupants.

We are looking forward to be part of any venture specializing in making portable and accessible healthcare equipment like birth delivery kit for traditional midwife complete with light, portable defibrillator powered by solar, mini refrigerator for vaccine and serum or even motorized patient transfer device. Since we provide mobile power supply using solar energy, we can equip the kit with our solution. Our long term goal is to see all healthcare equipment to be made available in the rural due to its portability and energy independent such as x-ray machine and hemodialysis machine. Based on our experience and observation, many of the villagers just bore the pain and disease especially involving critical illnesses like diabetes and tumor because they believe the help is beyond reach and expensive. Definitely there is big opportunity for this initiative in our region. In South East Asia alone, you can imagine the type of healthcare equipment made available for them if a simple light bulb also is not an option for almost 80 million people. We need access to these kind of machines made by other enterprise be it other start ups or big corporation. We do not have medical expertise but we can involve in the design and providing power supply like the one we did with portable electric powered water filter system.
