This is a lesson I learned from a person who has been “Off Grid” on solar for most of his life. I tried a test of my own panels flat to our roof and then stepped off 2-1/2″. With the air flow under the panels we were gaining 15% to 25% more and also made it ready for a tilt mode for the lower winter sun.
