Sailing Duende: The Beginning

Duende 1
Meet the crew!
Rob – Better known as “sleeping beauty”, is a lucky retired doctor, crazy enough to have race sailed around the world at my age and more interested in a sexton, than in sexting
Steve – Not only the coolest kiwi ever, but also a chef, a photographer, and pretty much knows how to fix anything and everything with his own hands, so far the only thing he hasn’t been able to revive is my drowned kindle
Mark – Steves dad, clear example that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, he knows how to do everything from welding to shearing to cooking deliciously, able to make friends with any stranger he runs into on the street and lucky enough to have travelled the world before we all got glued to a screen
Me – recently better known as Manuel (Faulty Towers) and quite adequate as “Manuel knows nothing”, I don’t know how to sail, I don’t know how to cook and I just learnt I don’t even know how to properly glue 2 things together.
Our first and only practice sail was not as successful as we hoped for….the engine died and we barely missed hitting another boat and finally did hit the wharf with the solar panels.
Still, we decided we were ready and off we went the next day, leaving land behind and having no idea what the next 2 weeks were going to bring us.
