Although the unit is advertised as having a 10,000 mAh built in battery, my testing with a USB watt meter and 1A load showed the battery to be closer to 7000 mAh. The battery is lithium polymer which is how they can retain the slim profile of the portable solar unit.
Due to the way the solar panels are wired directly to the powerbank, I couldn’t test if they do produce 12W worth of power. Based on the brand (SunPower), size of the panels and my limited testing, I’d say that figure is most likely legitimate.
The panel will charge even in in-direct sunlight. But of course it will take longer.
When connecting devices to the USB ports, the power will first go to your device and any extra will then go into the powerbank.
The unit is water resistant so it can be left in the rain but should not be submerged under water. I would recommend leaving the back compartment zipped up if you suspect rain might come.
One downside of this unit from dodocool is that you cannot charge the powerbank using your standard wall charger, only by solar power. I’d like to have the option to also charge it like a standard powerbank if I want.
