It’s summer and the sun is shining, cheering both holidaymakers and solar energy unit manufacturers alike. Although Germany does not enjoy all-year round sunshine, its solar power industry is growing faster than any other country.
New solar power stations are being built and solar cell producers are expanding production. They hope to double turnover from about 5 to more than 10 billion euros by 2010. Some 40 percent of Germany’s solar cell production is exported. But they need to be cheaper and more efficient. Claudia Laszczak met manufacturers and customers for Made in Germany.
