Under the EU-funded NACIR project, scientists are testing the efficiency of tiny, concentrated photovoltaic modules. The project has led to new applications including a small demonstration plant by replacing the polluting diesel formerly used to pump water for irrigation.
Such innovation could change the lives of millions of people and create growth locally and help Europe reach its 20% energy from renewables target.
