Gavin Conibeer discusses his current GCEP project dealing with Hot Carrier Solar Cells and high efficiency solar cell technology. He focuses on the different generation of solar cells and the possibilities in terms of efficiency. His team is trying to address and limit the losses by thermalization by developing Hot Carrier Solar Cells which try to limit the thermalization loss and capture the extra energy that is lost. Conibeer is the deputy director of the School and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of New South Wales in Australia.
