Slicing up silicon, which is the main component of solar panels, ends up wasting a lot of the raw material, increasing the price for consumers. A SunShot Initiative project with 1366 Technologies is working to dramatically lower the cost of solar panels through an innovative and efficient manufacturing process that eliminates the need for cutting blocks of silicon, greatly reducing waste.
