AHAWKIN is the pre-release codename for an innovative solar tracking controller dedicated to High Concentrated Photovoltaic Systems.
The tracking system is completely passive, based on chronological tracking. A sophisticated proprietary algorithm running on the units microprocessor is able to determinate instantaneously the sun position starting from the coordinates of the installation site and the local date and time with a precision of 0.01° or better.
To ensure the highest accuracy of the system the units are equipped with a GPS receiver that gives furthermore considerable advantages in terms of simplicity of installation and maintenance of the system. Indeed, while conventional chronological tracking systems use internal real time clock accumulating error with time, our system, receiving data and time from a GPS receiver is always up to date with atomic precision, and also automatically determines geographic coordinates necessary for the calculation of the sun position.
The accuracy of the tracking is better than 0.1° (up to 0.04°) in every condition, regardless of partial clouded conditions thanks to the proprietary positioning algorithm working in continuous feedback with the encoders placed on the tracking motors.
The tracker unit is available in three different configurations: for DC motors, AC motors and BLDC motors. The BLDC version, thanks to a dual DSP on board can drive motors with a pure sinewave signal (PSW), achieving higher power efficiency, noiseless operation and less mechanical stress and in higher long term reliability. All versions are equipped with torque control for safety and mechanical fault protection.
The units can work either in standalone configuration or in BUS configuration, for a remote control and monitoring of large production plant (up to 128 units).
AhawKin has been selected among the best Italian technologic products under the initiative “Italia degli Innovatori 2011/2012″ promoted by Agency for the diffussion of Technologies for Innovation leading to Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers
