Off grid solar solutions provider D.Light has launched a new solar home system. The company is targeting people who live off the power grid. The company says the products will enable locals to not only light homes, but also charge phones and watch digital TV channels on solar TV sets. The company plans to spread its wings beyond the East African region. Despite plenty of sunshine, many African countries still rely on hydro-electric energy for their day to day needs. Solar energy penetration remains dismal. Kenya though is diversifying its energy sources to geothermal and wind.
