Pound for pound theyre really no different. Evacuated tube will cost you slightly more, and are more efficient slightly more efficient, so the amount of money you spend to get that amount of energy is roughly the same in a like for like situation. Evacuated tubes are more versatile, in that if youre not exactly south, if youre getting off to south west or south east then you can tilt your evacuated tubes more towards the south, or if you havent got the inclination, the pitch on your roof. Or if youve got a flat roof, you can get away with a much lower inclination on an evacuated tube than you can a flat panel. Conversely, you cant roof integrate evacuated tubes. They have to be on top of the roof, rather than in the roof. Flat panels can go in the roof with a very low profile, which means you can do them with permitted development rights you havent got to ask anybody, and they can look like a Velux window or any kind of skylight. So they have that degree of flexibility, which evacuated tubes dont, but you pay your money and take your choice basically.
