Survival Cabin Series: Solar Power System Part 1
As part of our survival cabin, we wanted an off grid power supply. We found an awesome power package that we settled on that came with most of the parts we needed.
A quick rundown of the kit is listed here:
3.1KW Off Grid Solar Package: We changed out and substituted pieces in the system such as the solar panel mounts and battery boxes so the price varied a little for us. The company was more than happy to work with us to customize the package to our liking.

The steel pipe for the solar panels was purchased from a steel supplier locally
• Price: $150
• Shipping: local pickup
We also purchased additional supplies locally from Lowes:
• 1 in. conduit and connections: $25
• 6 AWG stranded THHN wire, 150 feet: $133
• 8 AWG Solid ground wire and 3 ground rods: $105
Some parts we already had such as concrete and wood poles, glue, clamps, etc.
This is an ongoing project and we only just got the outside stuff done.
