This short video was taken by my Chinese partner within 20 mins arriving at the factory in Suzhou, China. I knew the manufacture 3 yrs ago who at the time was producing small solar charging flexible fold up, roll up PV panels in thin film.
On seeing and touching these new none glass panels, so light weight was easy to lift with two hands, was amazing for me as somebody seeking the ultimate PV panel for my PVT panel design.
On seeing the aluminium backing behind these PV panels, provided me with the answer to the heat transfer efficiency needed when my solar thermal absorber (made in Aluminium) could be improved compared to the mass produced glass PV panels with a TPT backing.
Without the glass, even frameless to achieve a lower shipping cost, with the frames assembled in the country of import, all add up to the greater benefits of these types of PV panels as an alternative to the very low cost mass produced glazed panels.
Of course the price is higher at $0.74 cents a watt but the recent independent test report shows an efficiency increase from 16% (glass types) to 20% for the Teflon type, with a 10 year warranty
We will now use the larger of the panels in poly and mono for our PVT assembly, while looking to use the smaller panels from 25 watt to 100 watts for the charging of our Lithium battery solar charging storage systems that powers many small devices and off grid home LED lighting DC.
