In June 2010, one co-worker went to Babungo, rural Cameroon, to install a stand-alone hybrid solar PV system to electrify the Babungo Integrated Healthcare Centre (BIHC). The generated electricity is used for running and lighting the BIHC hospital and for running refrigerators used for conserving vaccines.
The project was a joint effort of Picosol (www.picosol.nl), the Babungo foundation (www.babungo.org) and Advisolar.
The project was funded by:
1) Triodos Bank (www.triodos.com)
2) Net4kids aid foundation (www.net4kids.org)
3) Share4more, the Rabobank Group Employee Fund
4) Impulsis (www.impulsis.nl)
