Petition for a Solar Feed-in Tariff. (FiT) To: Mayor ___________________ & Governor Jerry Brown
We need a Solar Payment Policy requiring PG&E to pay anyone feeding solar onto the grid $0.49 kwh. This rate will make investing in solar attractive, as it will payback the cost of buying solar panels, in 7 years. This will create 10 million solar jobs. This is the most effective way to shut down nukes and stop fracking. Germany has shut down half their nukes and created a half million JOBS using a FiT.

Feed-in Tariff
A FiT is a policy that requires Utilities like PG&E to pay anyone who feeds solar energy onto the grid. This allows a home owner or farmer to create their own solar Utility, harvest solar energy and sell their surplus onto the grid. This means the home owner has free energy and is making money selling the extra energy to their neighbors. The price ranges from $0.80 kwh in Ontario, Can., to $0.54 kwh in Germany. Polls of consumers in Germany show the majority of Germany favor this premium paid to solar harvesters. A typical person said, “I don’t mind paying only $20. a month extra for all my solar energy if it helps us to avoid a nuclear meltdown. Besides, I spend $20. a month on beer. That is not that much. That is a fair price.”
Communities prosper under the FiT plan because the FiT creates jobs for people building solar panels, selling, installing, cleaning and repairing solar panels.
What is the main source of emissions causing global warming? Surprisingly, it is American homes. Homes consume around 50 percent of the US energy for lighting, heating, cooking, and the 27 appliances. A video game consumes more energy than a frig. The size of the average US home has ballooned by 45 percent since 1980. As has the waist line of the average American. An average home produces 11 tons of CO2 annually.( GS 189)
Globally, buildings consume 76 percent of the world’s electricity. Free heat. Contract that with the new homes built in California that get a third of their heat, from geo thermal heat, from the 7,000 F earth core heat. These homes, with a berm basement, tap the heat from the center of the earth and can maintain the temperature of the house at 55 F year round, even in the coldest place in the US, for free. Then by adding solar & wind you can have a modern house with all your electrical needs met, off the grid, for free. That is the future. I have walked thru the future, and it works.
