Hello! This video breaks down energy and power, showing you how to calculate how many panels you’ll need to power your appliances.
How to Calculate:
Watts (W) = measurement of power
Energy = Watts x Hours = Watt-hours (Wh)
Example:
65W (TV) x 10 hours (Time Usage) = 650Wh
100W (Panel) x 5 (California Peak Hours) = 500Wh
650Wh/500Wh = 1.3 Panels; round that to 2 Panels.
Thus, in California, to run a 65W TV for 10 hours, you’d need 200W of solar panels.
