One of my best hobby projects of all time – fully portable, car battery powered cinema.
Components:

- Jesurun DX05 android minicomputer

- universal car power source for laptops
- DC-DC converter to 5V/3A for the Jesurun
The projector is by far the most expensive component but since I use it at home instead of a regular TV, it was worth the buy. The resolution is 1280×800 and it even has wifi module so you can live-stream directly from your phone. It also has 2W built-in speakers, but those are not even worth mentioning. The projection brightness is 900lumens, which is really high for a DLP LED projector of this category.
The power source I use to power the projector is meant for powering laptop from your car. But as I say in the video, the original power source for the projector is exactly the same as 90% of ASUS laptops (19V, 4A), it is easy to get one.
The speakers are 4Ohm rated to 100W RMS/300W Max power, so they go nicely with the audio amp, which is 60W RMS/180W Max.
The Jesurun is now pretty outdated, you can buy much more powerful android computers. The software used is SPMC, a branch of Kodi (previously known as XBMC) fine-tuned for Android.
I have isolated every component behind its individual switch to be able to control what is running and what not. For example, I could power up only the amp and the minicomputer, plug a flashdrive full of music to it and then control the playback from my phone, leaving the projector at home and only using it for audio.
The display on the side is also from DX, it’s Jtron branded, 10A max meter which gives you a good idea of how much power is being consumed (so you can expect when your battery will die) and what is the voltage – worn out batteries usually don’t hold voltage well when under load so once you power everything up, the voltage drops quickly to ~ 8V (I had that happen to me when I was experimenting with old UPS accu packs).
