On China’s sunniest plateau, 600,000 Tibetans use solar power

Drikham is a remote rural village located in Tibet’s Gyangze City.

With an average altitude of around 4,000 meters as well as the harsh weather, the village is still uncovered by the state grid.

Before 2012, local villagers got light only by lighting candles or butter lamps.

Thanks to the “Golden Sun” project, now villagers there find their way to watch TV and listen to radio by using a new power.
