Off Grid Solar Power – Using the Backup System

Off Grid Solar Power – Using the Backup System

Yesterday, 22 October, my parents’ 2800W PSW inverter died. Turns out that at least one mosfet died, creating a dead short, which then blew all 10 20A blade fuses. We’ve got a local technician looking at it, he reckons he’ll be able to fix it. In the meantime, I’ve lent my 2000W PSW inverter from my main solar power system to my parents.

This left me with two options for Saturday night and Sunday morning:
1. Go without power.
2. Use the backup system.

That’s a no brainer for me. About the only thing I can’t do in the house with the 1000W inverter is use power tools and use the washing machine and water pump at the same time. Meanwhile, I’ve also ordered myself another 24-240V 2000W PSW inverter to keep on hand for occasions such as this.
