The Navajo Nation will finish building the tribe’s first utility scale solar power plant by the end of 2016.
Construction is planned in the Navajo community south of Monument Valley. This will include 300-acres of photovoltaic panels throughout Keyenta. The plant should be capable of powering on average 7700 homes.
The completed construction is projected to cost nearly $64 million. The construction of the plant is planned to created 100 jobs, with several long term jobs as well.
