Dog falls into the same TIGER’S DEN where a live donkey was fed to the beasts
Heart-stopping footage of the incident was recorded at Yancheng Wild Animal World in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, eastern China.
In the clip, the dog can be seen slipping through its owner’s grasp as he stands looking into the tiger enclosure.
It tumbles through the air – bouncing off a post on the way down – before landing in the moat surrounding the pen.
The animal’s horrified owner leaps up onto the wall and looks down at his pet as it thrashes about, trying to stay afloat.
The petrified pooch kicks and scratches at the side in an attempt to clamber to safety, but has no chance of scaling the vertical walls.
Meanwhile, all the splashing attracts the big cats, which gather at the water’s edge and look on hungrily.
The zoo is the same one which saw a live donkey torn to pieces by the predators when it was thrown into the enclosure just weeks before.
On that occasion, fear of getting wet wasn’t enough to save the unfortunate donkey, which was slaughtered as it tried to swim away.
But luckily for the dog, the water keeps the killer cats at bay for long enough for it to be rescued.
People reach down into the water with a net on a long pole and fish the mutt out before he is eaten.
Zookeepers shot firecrackers towards the two Siberian tigers to distract them during the rescue, Modern Daily reports.
