Development of Portable Solar Power System for Rural Area Application

As we can see now, the earth becomes hot effect of the global warming. Here we can take an
advantage from the effect of the global warming. We can use solar energy as an electrical
energy to give a continuity of electric supply, and to provide a clean supply (consistent
within set limits of variation for voltage and frequency) to the supported electrical
appliance. So, the solar inverter has been inventing to supply power continuously, not only
in the case of power failure but also during troubleshooting and maintenance of the system.
Reliability estimation was found to be one of the best methods to ensure that the PV system
will be able to support the loads for a specified time during power disturbances as the
system’s reliability parameters will provide useful information on the system’s reliability
level and performance. PV cells are usually connected together to make PV modules, consisting
of 72 PV cells, which generates a DC voltage between 15 Volt to 20 Volt and a typical
maximum power of 19 Watt, depending on temperature and solar irradiation. The electrical
infrastructure around the world is based on AC voltage, with a few exceptions, with a
voltage of 120 Volt or 230 Volt in the distribution grid. PV modules can therefore not be
connected directly to the grid, but must be connected through an inverter. The two main
tasks for the inverter are to load the PV module optimal, in order to harvest the most
energy, and to inject a sinusoidal current into the grid. The price for a PV module is
in the very moment high compared with other sources. The lowest price for a PV module,
inclusive inverter, cables and installation, is approximately RM24 for 1W PV module.
This corresponds to a production-price over a time period of 25 years, which cannot yet
compete with other energy sources. However, it might be profitable for domestic use,
since it does not have to take duty, tax, and wage for regular cleaning of the PV module
into consideration.
