DC fan running on solar panels

Here’s my first attempt to use the sun’s energy to power an electrical device. I’m using six small solar panels rated at 6 Volts/100 mA each. I wired two by two in series and the resulting three double panels wired in parallel. This way I got a theoretical power of 12 Volts/300 mA.

For measurements I used my Mastech M-830B multimeter.

This little experiment was done on the 6th of January 2013, at around 11 AM. At first I had to give the fan a little spin, but by noon the sun was high enough and strong enough to power the fan without me having to intervene. Also, at noon the fan was able to draw 100 mA at around 10-11 Volts from my little solar array.
