I had the privilege to use first-hand one of the first monocrystalline solar panels released on the market some time back, yet I am unceasingly impressed with the continue refinements in efficiency and sizing.
This is most compact panel I have personally used, small enough to tuck away anywhere. I do recommend getting yourself a USB Power Meter of some sort to help you determine your best placement, and probably a good, long charging cord so you can keep your device in the shade (the little Velcro pocket that the USB output is tucked under is really too small to shade anything but perhaps a small mobile hotspot).
As seen in my video, at the end I was pulling 0.95A to a 10.1″ Android tablet (best draw being 1.35A off a high speed, super efficient portable USB battery) – pretty good in my book for free energy.
Also, you iOS users with the big amperage hungry batteries, this small panel is not suitable. Even with the max rated of 1.6A (conditions being sublimely perfect), you won’t get what you need, but there are much larger panels out there that could. Yet for the rest of the mobile device world, where 0.46 is the baseline amperage draw, this will do admirably.
So any cons? Just how small the Velcro pocket is in relation to keeping the charging device out of the sun without having to hunt up external shade., yet you should at least be able to fit a USB Power Meter in there and a long charging cord.
