Today I am going to take a look at a portable solar charger sent over by EC Technology. This portable solar array uses 6 mono-crystalline cells to provide an advertised power output of 21W to charge up to two USB devices. The charger is durable, light, and highly portable. It is easy to setup and easy to use. Just angle it towards the sun and plug in a USB device.
Even though the charger is rated to provide 21W of max power I was only ever able to draw 13W max from the charger. On average I was getting a little under 10W from the charger and at times that figure would dip down to 5W. I believe the 21W rating is a slightly inflated best case scenario. On a sunny day expect to see 7W – 13W from this charger max.
It works, its easy to use, and it is portable. Just keep in mind that realistically you should expect to see around 10W from this charger on a sunny day.
