  • Vlog1 Traveling to the Grand Canyon, Snow, Mud, Laughlin, Nevada to Grand Canyon, Arizona

This is the first video documenting our journey traveling the United States in a 2017 Cirrus 820 Truck camper on top of a GMC 3500.

Here is a link to check out the camper until we post a video, http://nucamprv.com/cirrus/

We have been traveling for about 6 months, and you guys have missed so much stuff! But not anymore, from now on we will be documenting our journey. This video starts out in Laughlin, NV where we saw the New Years fireworks at the Colorado Bell Casino. The Colorado Bell allows overnight parking for RV’s. Some people also call it boondocking, but basically sleep in the parking lot.

This works out well because we are basically self sufficient for a week, we don’t even need to start the truck or generator for power. Our solar panels keep the batteries charged, so for us boondocking is easy. On this Cirrus we have the factory installed panels, from zamp. But our first camper we used renogy solar panels and controller along with some battery monitors.

Here is a link to those panels. http://amzn.to/2j5R7ri

This is a kit that came with everything we needed for the install and running wires to the batteries. We then used a battery monitor http://amzn.to/2jgbtZK which is not ideal, but does get the job done cheaply.

We ended up spending the next night on Welch road which is National Forest land!! You can park on most National Forest and BLM land for two weeks at a time, but we only needed one night. The weather was freezing rain and wind and the truck had to go into 4 wheel drive. RJ wanted to grill the steaks instead of eating a quick ramen dinner. The next morning we decided to detour to the Grand Canyon, because, why not, it was only an hour away.

After checking out the Grand Canyon we spent the night ten minutes out side of the park, where we almost got stuck in the mud.

    Here are some useful links.

We use allstays iPhone app to find most of our campsites.

We didn’t stop this time, but last time we stopped Pine Country Deli for pie!
