    A teenager has invented a phone charger that utilises energy from the human body to power up mobile devices and act as a portable charger whenever you need one. The device works by simply rotating your hand, which in turn activates its gyroscope. One the gyroscope has been activated, it produces enough energy that can either be stored or used to charge a mobile phone.

    The Kickstarter campaign hoped to achieve €50,000 in funding but has already achieved €71,333 by backers who want to get their hands on this device. The teenage inventor, Michael Vaga, hails from Minsk, Belarus and is already in the process of producing the device and should start sending the finished product to backers as soon as possible.

    He said: “With each rotation of your hand, the rotor speed increases significantly and generates more power. The average speed of the rotor is 5,000 rpm.

    “We translate the mechanical energy you put in into electrical energy and this means you can charge your device.”

    According to Vaga, it took him over a year to develop this device and he describes it as an ideal product for people who spend a long time away from a power source. So, if you are thinking of going hiking, climbing or camping anytime soon, this is perfect for you.

    The device takes anywhere between 40 minutes to an hour to obtain full charge and the speed of the charging will be reduced if a phone is being charged at the same time. Vaga also stresses that the device is a good source of emergency energy and is also environmental friendly.

    HandEnergy will be available from March 2017 with an expected retail price of €99 (INR 7063).
